What is Discovery & How Does it Work?
The CCO Discovery study is a 6-week faith study that leads people through the kerygma in a small group, discussion-based study. It introduces people to God’s love, the person of Jesus, and how to start living as a disciple, through a personal relationship with Jesus.
What Are the Topics Covered in Discovery?
God’s Love - God knows and loves us personally.
Love’s Initiative - The Father takes the initiative to reconcile our relationship with him.
Jesus Christ, Our Lord - Jesus of Nazareth is truly God.
Jesus Christ, Our Saviour - Jesus saves us from our sins through his passion, death and resurrection.
Love is Offered - We are invited to receive the gift of salvation and live a new relationship with God.
A New Life - We live our personal relationship with God both individually and communally.
Who Is Discovery For?
The Discovery study is for anyone who may be curious or seeking to know what it means to be a disciple of Jesus. Since there are references to scripture and to the teachings of the Catholic faith, a general awareness of Christianity would be helpful but not required.
You can see more of the impact Discovery has had in our parishes here.
What Does It Require of a Host?
All that’s required is that you have a place to host. The Discovery study provides a participant and a leader guide with detailed notes to help you lead with confidence. The leader guide also gives you helpful suggestions for responding to questions, and notes on how to prepare, invite, launch, and pray for the study.
What Are The Next Steps To Hosting a Discovery?
Get comfortable with the material and leading a series by attending Proclaim training. This training will give you the skills in invitation, hospitality, and specifics around leading Discovery.
Once you’ve done training, you can register to host a Discovery series through Proclaim.
Whether it's your first Discovery or you have lots of experience, our team is here to help.
